Don M. Mateer is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois,
the U.S. District (Federal Court), the U.S. Court of Appeals,
7th Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Mr. Mateer has tried jury
cases in both state and federal courts for over 35 years.
He continues his active practice representing individuals in personal
injury cases, as well as, insurance companies and self insured
companies in complex litigation. His cases include personal injury,
professional malpractice, dram shop, products liability, premises
liability, insurance coverage and wrongful death.
Mr. Mateer, in addition to his trial work, is an active arbitrator and
mediator. He is a member of the Panel of Arbitrators for the American
Arbitration Association and is an approved Mediator and Arbitrator
for Winnebago County.
Mr. Mateer has been honored by his peers in
several ways. He has been elected a Fellow in the American College
of Trial Lawyers, named a Leading Lawyer in Illinois, named a Super
Lawyer in Illinois and is AV peer review rated (the highest rating
available to lawyers). He is listed in Who's Who in America and
Who's Who in American Law.
He is a member of the American Bar Association and served as Vice
Chairman of the Trial Techniques Committee, Tort and Insurance Practice
Section. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and has
served as an Illinois State Assembly Representative. He is a member
of the Winnebago County Bar Association and has served as the Chair
of the Professional Responsibility Committee and the Judicial Liaison
Committee. He is also a member of the Illinois Association of Defense
Trial Counsel and the Defense Research Institute.
Mr. Mateer has served as Chair of the Princeton Children's Home,
Chair of Protestant Community Services, Chair of Bethesda Covenant
Church, chair of The University of Michigan Club of Rockford and chair
of the 100 Hole Golf Marathon Fundraiser as well as serving on many
boards and committees of local organizations. |
